How to buy a pre-owned Rolex
A used Rolex is only as good as its parts and its history. These are the points that matter most, and the questions worth asking us about any watch on this page.
Reference and serial number
Rolex engraves a reference number and a serial number on every case. The reference tells you the model, metal and bezel. The serial places the watch in a production period. Both should agree with each other, with the parts on the watch, and with the papers if there are any.
Box and papers
"Full set" means the watch comes with its original box and its warranty card or certificate. Papers add value and help with provenance, but they are not proof of authenticity on their own, so we check them too. Use the Full set filter above to see only complete sets.
Condition and polishing
Every polish removes metal. Look for sharp case edges and crisp lug bevels in the photos. We grade every watch as Unworn, Mint, Excellent, Very Good or Vintage. Our FAQ explains each grade.
Original or modified
Some watches in our inventory have aftermarket diamond dials or bezels, and most of them say "custom" or "iced out" in the title. For any diamond-set watch, ask us whether the diamonds are factory or aftermarket. Aftermarket parts are not made by Rolex. They change the resale value, and an official Rolex service center may require them to be replaced with genuine parts. If you want an all-original watch, ask us before you buy.

Is Watch LA an authorized Rolex dealer?
No. Watch LA is an independent pre-owned dealer. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or authorized by Rolex. Every watch is independently authenticated by our team. Here is how we authenticate.
Can I see a Rolex in person before I buy?
Yes. Walk-ins are welcome Monday to Saturday, 10am–5pm, at 650 S Hill St, Suite A8, Los Angeles, CA 90014. Call (213) 505-1874 to check that a specific watch is in the showroom before you come.
What warranty comes with a used Rolex?
Every watch we sell carries our 12-month limited warranty covering mechanical defects. Any remaining manufacturer coverage is decided by Rolex, not by us.
Can I return a Rolex?
We don't issue refunds. Within 30 days of delivery you can bring the watch back to our showroom and, if it passes inspection, exchange it for another piece in our inventory. See the exchange policy.
Do you ship outside the US?
No. We ship within the United States only. Shipping is free and insured, and an adult signature is required on delivery.
